Orders, Freight & Assembly
All Surron e-bikes are shipped in reinforced 7-ply corrugated cartons with biodegradable foam inserts via specialized ground freight carriers. Each bicycle arrives 85% to 90% pre-assembled from our California facility. The drivetrain, brakes, wiring, and rear motor are already fully tuned. You only need to attach the front wheel, insert the handlebars, screw on the pedals (left pedal is reverse-threaded), and adjust the saddle. A custom multi-tool and torque wrench are included in every box, along with a full-color printed quick-start guide.
Orders placed before 2:00 PM PST ship within 1-2 business days. Transit time ranges from 1-2 business days for West Coast deliveries, 2-3 business days for Central states, and 3-5 business days for the East Coast. Because e-bikes are high-value vehicles, carriers require an adult signature (18+) upon delivery to ensure security and prevent porch theft.

Batteries, Real-World Range & Charging
We exclusively use Grade-A certified Samsung (35E and 50E 21700) and LG Chem NMC lithium-ion cells. Each battery pack features an intelligent multi-channel Battery Management System (BMS) with thermal cut-offs, cell-level over-charge protection, and individual nickel-plate fusing. Our packs are rated for 800 to 1,000 complete charge cycles before dropping to 70% capacity—translating to roughly 5 to 7 years of typical commuter use.
Never charge a lithium-ion battery when its temperature is below freezing (32°F / 0°C), as this can cause irreversible lithium plating. If storing your bike for more than 30 days during winter:
- Remove the battery key and store the pack indoors at room temperature (50°F–70°F / 10°C–21°C).
- Store the pack at 50% to 70% state of charge (approx. 3 out of 4 LED bars). Do not store at 100% or 0%.
- Top off the charge for 30 minutes every 60 days to prevent parasitic sleep-mode drainage.
Our advertised range figures (e.g. 50–70 miles on the Surron Commuter Pro) are measured with a 170-pound rider on level paved terrain using Pedal Assist Level 2 at approximately 15 mph. In throttle-only mode or when tackling steep continuous 12%+ alpine climbs, range will be closer to 30–35 miles. Using eco assist modes on flat commutes can yield over 75 miles per charge.
Motors, Sensors & All-Weather Riding
Cadence Sensors act like an on/off switch: once the cranks start spinning, the motor delivers a predetermined power level regardless of how hard you press.
Torque Sensors measure the exact physical force (strain gauge) you apply to the pedals in real time. If you pedal gently, the motor provides whisper-quiet subtle assistance; if you push hard up a steep hill, the motor instantly surges with full torque. All Surron Pro and Mountain models use precision bilateral torque sensors for an intuitive, natural cycling feel.
Yes. All Surron electrical components, motors, displays, and wiring harnesses carry an IP65 water resistance rating. Riding in steady rain, splashing through street puddles, or riding on wet snow will not damage the system. However, you should never submerge the bike in deep water or use high-pressure automotive pressure washers, which can force water past bearing seals. Wipe the frame down with a damp cloth and mild soap.
E-Bike Classifications & Street Legality
Surron models are configured out of the box as Class 2 electric bicycles (20 mph max assist with throttle and pedal assist), making them 100% legal on multi-use bike paths, lanes, and municipal streets without requiring a driver's license, vehicle registration, or insurance in almost all US states and Canadian provinces. Our digital LCD displays allow riders to switch into Class 3 mode (28 mph pedal assist) where legally permitted.
In the United States and Canada, Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes do not require a driver's license or motor vehicle registration. Standard bicycle helmets with CPSC certification are strongly recommended for all riders and legally mandatory for riders under 18 (and for all Class 3 riders in states like California, Washington, and New York). For speeds above 20 mph, we recommend an NTA-8776 certified e-bike helmet.
Spare Parts, Right to Repair & Upgrades
Yes! We adhere to open industry standards wherever possible. Our motors utilize standard Bafang 9-pin waterproof motor quick-disconnect cables; our throttles and brake cut-off sensors utilize standard yellow 3-pin and red 2-pin Julet connectors; and our wheel dropouts fit standard 135mm rear and 100mm front spacing. Yes. All Surron frame battery mounting cradles (Shark pack and Hailong mounts) share uniform slide-lock rails. You can effortlessly upgrade from a 48V 14Ah pack to our high-capacity 48V 20Ah or 52V Samsung 21700 pack without modifying wiring or frame geometry.
Warranty & 30-Day Trial Guarantee
Every Surron bicycle is protected by our full 2-Year Comprehensive Limited Warranty from the date of delivery. This covers frame structural integrity, motor planetary gears and bearings, motor controller circuitry, LCD display unit, and battery pack capacity retention (≥70% capacity over 500 cycles). Normal consumable wear items (brake pads, tire rubber, chains) are excluded from manufacturing warranty but backed by low-cost OEM replacements.
Ride your new Surron on your daily commute, grocery runs, and weekend adventures for 30 days. If you find the bike isn't the perfect fit, you can return it within 30 days of delivery, provided the odometer has logged fewer than 20 total miles and the bike is in like-new condition with all original packaging and accessories.
